Det står nu klart att Nathan Dawit förlänger ytterligare en säsong med Umeå BSKT. Detta blir Dawits fjärde år i klubben och han ser fram emot den nya säsongen.
Den föregångna säsongen snittade 25-åringen 28 minuter och 13.2 poäng på 28 spelade matcher. Dawit har lång erfarenhet av svensk basket, både i basketettan och SBL. Den 195 centimeter långe shooting guarden ser denna säsong som en nystart för klubben.
”Känns bra och kul att ha skrivit på ett år till och väldigt spännande med en ny coach. Känns som att det är en nystart för klubben och mina förväntningar är att vi tar oss så långt som möjligt, och att vi kämpar och krigar på varje dag.”
Huvudtränare Balibrea ser Dawit som en nyckelperson i sitt lagbygge och planerar laget utefter honom.

“Nathan’s re-sign has been super important for the rebuilding idea we have for next season. We are building the team around him, and now our job is to find the pieces that complement his profile to have a competitive team. Nathan has proven to be an important player in Swedish basketball, and he’s also a difficult profile to find since he is still young, but has some years of experience in the league.”
Balibrea har fått ett mycket bra intryck av Dawit både som spelare och person, något som han värdesätter väldigt högt.
“He will be a benchmark in our offence, helping us both in scoring and in creating an advantage for the rest of the players. Defensively, he is a player who has a lot of instinct and I’m sure that with the identity that we are going to have as a team, he will grow and help us a lot. Also, I have had very good feelings in the conversations I have had with him previously, so I think we are going to connect and understand each other very well both on and off the court.”
Klubbens arbete de senaste åren är något som Balibrea är mycket imponerad över.
“I think Nathan’s re-signing is one more example of the work that Umeå BSKT has been doing for last years, and showing that despite the situation we are experiencing, the Club has ambitions and wants to grow. I think that the work that Luca and Michael have done in the talks with Nathan has been key.”
